Our Biltong Just Won the Good Food Awards. Again.

Winning a Good Food Award shows a commitment to sourcing, flavor, and quality. We're thrilled to share that both our Original and Spiced beef biltong have won the 2026 Good Food Awards in the Snacks category for the second time

Our first win was in 2023 and we're proud to secure another win.

2026 Good Food Award Winner — Figure Ate beef biltong, Snacks category

What are the Good Food Awards?

The Good Food Awards are judged in two distinct parts: a blind taste test led by category experts and consumer tasters, as well as a strict environmental and social responsibility review.

The judges administer a blind taste test so they don't know whose product they're evaluating — no packaging, no brand story, no context. This year's panel included food writers, retail buyers, marketing consultants, and industry specialists who tasted across more than 1,200 entries.

For sourcing standards to qualify, a product must be:

  • Made in the USA

  • Free of GMO ingredients, free of high fructose corn syrup, palm oil, and artificial ingredients — no artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives.

  • Spices must be certified organic, Fair Trade, or traceable to the farm level.

  • Supply chain transparency is required: entrants have to demonstrate an earnest effort to verify the origin and production methods of every ingredient they use.

We've built Figure Ate at this precise intersection: our foods are genuinely delicious, and the way they’re produced means something. This second win confirms what we've believed from the start: that producing food the right way and making something truly delicious reinforce each other.

"Our biltong has always been about doing less. Five ingredients, small batches, a slow, time-intensive preservation process. The fact that it holds up in a blind tasting against everything else on the market is something we're enormously proud of."

— Steve Finkel, Founder & President of White Buffalo Land Trust

Cattle raised from regenerative agriculture

How Figure Ate Approaches Sourcing

The sourcing review is the part of this award we care most about.

Our beef biltong is made exclusively from grass-fed and finished beef, sourced from verified regenerative ranches dedicated to rotational grazing. These are ranches where cattle graze on pasture their entire lives and where their herd behavior drives land recovery. Regenerative agriculture raises cattle in a way that rebuilds topsoil and restores grassland biodiversity. When you snack on our biltong, you're part of that choice too.

We produce our biltong in small batches, air-dried and seasoned with organic spices, vinegar, and sea salt. South African-style. Five ingredients. 32g of protein, 0g of sugar per pouch, free of hormones, antibiotics, GMO feed, and artificial preservatives. Winning Good Food Award twice tells us that's the right call.

The Mission Behind Every Bag

Figure Ate is part of White Buffalo Land Trust (WBLT), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in Santa Barbara, CA dedicated to practicing, promoting, and developing systems of regenerative agriculture. 100% of Figure Ate proceeds fund WBLT's work — restoring ecosystems, training land stewards, and building the research infrastructure that makes regenerative agriculture scalable.

We're grateful to the Good Food Foundation for this recognition, and we're grateful to everyone who's chosen to snack with intention. You make this work possible.
