Our Regeneratively-Sourced Beef Biltong Awarded Good Food Awards!

We’re excited to announce that both flavors of our regeneratively-sourced beef biltong, Original and Spiced, have won Good Food Awards

The Good Food Foundation was founded in 2008 to celebrate, connect, empower, and leverage the passionate and engaged players in the food system who are driving towards tasty, authentic, and responsible food in order to humanize and reform American food culture. The foundation created The Good Food Awards to recognize food crafters who top the charts in blind taste tests performed by category experts and consumer tasters, as well as meet strict environmental and social responsibility standards. Our beef biltong products were selected from nearly 2,000 entries as “Snacks” category winners

Figure Ate is part of our parent organization, White Buffalo Land Trust (WBLT), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to practicing, promoting, and developing systems of regenerative agriculture for local, regional, and global impact. All Figure Ate proceeds support WBLT’s work of restoring the ecosystem and reimagining our food system.

At Figure Ate, we’re committed to creating an ever-expanding network of aligned producers and customers rooted in regenerative principles and practices. Each of our products begin by identifying an ecological need that can be addressed through regenerative agriculture and finish as nutrient-dense and delicious foods that help restore people, communities, and the ecosystem.

We’re truly honored to showcase The Good Food Award seal on both of our beef biltong products. This seal is meant to assure consumers they have found something exceptionally delicious that also supports sustainability and social good.

Our beef biltong is made exclusively from grass fed and finished, certified humane beef sourced from Land to Market verified ranches, including our featured supplier White Oak Pastures. These ranchers are dedicated to animal welfare and making positive ecological impacts on their land by grazing cattle exclusively on pasture throughout their entire lives in a way that reflects wild herd behavior. This style of ranching pulls carbon from the atmosphere and stores it in the soil, reducing greenhouse gasses and helping rebuild topsoil. Land to Market verifies positive trends in land health through Ecological Outcome Verification, a data-based approach developed in collaboration with leading scientists and researchers worldwide to assess the regeneration of land.

We produce our beef biltong in small batches to maximize freshness and flavor, utilizing recipes that remain true to South African traditions with seasonings that highlight the richness of the premium beef. Each pouch of our beef biltong has 32 grams of protein, 0 grams of sugar, and is free of hormones, GMO feed, antibiotics, and artificial preservatives.

“We’re proud of our work. Our beef biltong supports the regeneration of grasslands and provides delicious, nourishing protein for our customers; and we greatly appreciate the acknowledgement from this highly respected organization.”

- Steve Finkel, Founder & President of White Buffalo Land Trust.
