Vinegar has been used in skincare for centuries as a natural toner, and our Persimmon Vinegar is especially rich in antioxidants that support healthy, balanced skin. Our friend Carol Blessing at Green Bamboo Skincare created this simple DIY facial toner recipe for us — and it feels as good as it sounds.
Why Persimmon Vinegar Works as a Facial Toner
Vinegar is naturally acidic, which helps restore the skin’s pH balance after cleansing. Most cleansers are alkaline, which can leave skin feeling tight or dry — a diluted vinegar toner brings the skin back to its natural slightly acidic state, which supports the skin barrier and helps keep breakouts at bay. Persimmon Vinegar adds an extra benefit: it’s packed with antioxidants from the persimmon fruit, which help protect skin from environmental stressors and support a healthy, even complexion.
Persimmon Vinegar Facial Toner
Ingredients
- 2 tbsp Persimmon Vinegar
- ½ cup witch hazel
- ½ cup distilled water (or rose water)
Instructions
- Mix all ingredients in a container or spray bottle.
- Spray or dab on your face with a wet washcloth after cleansing.
- Optional: add a few drops of an essential oil of your choice.

Tips & Customizations

Sensitive skin: Increase the distilled water ratio to dilute further — start with 1 tbsp vinegar instead of 2.

Rose water: Substitute distilled water with rose water for added soothing and anti-inflammatory benefits.

Essential oils: A few drops of tea tree (clarifying), lavender (calming), or frankincense (anti-aging) work beautifully.

Storage: Keep in a cool, dark place or in the fridge for a refreshing application. Use within 4–6 weeks.
